Secondary

Growing Confident, Capable, and Future-Ready Young Adults

At SGIS, our Secondary School programme is designed to guide students through some of the most important years of their development—academically, socially, and personally. We combine strong academic pathways with meaningful character formation, global awareness, and real-world learning experiences.

Our goal is simple: to help every learner discover their strengths, stretch their potential, and step into the future with confidence and purpose.

A Strong Academic Pathway: IGCSE & IAL

Lower Secondary (Years 7-10): IGCSE Preparation

Core Subjects Include

  • English Language & Literature
  • Mathematics
  • Sciences (Biology, Chemistry, Physics)
  • Humanities (Geography, History, Global Perspectives)
  • A Foreign Language
  • ICT & Digital Literacy

Students learn through a blend of direct instruction, inquiry, hands-on experimentation, and real-world application ensuring they understand concepts deeply rather than memorising facts.

After completing IGCSEs, SGIS students progress to a two-year International Advanced Levels (IAL A-Levels) programme. A-Levels allow students to specialise in subjects aligned with their passions and university aspirations – whether in science, business, humanities, or the arts.

Holistic Development Beyond Academics

We believe that secondary education should shape not only the mind, but also the heart and character. SGIS students grow into grounded, compassionate, and resilient young adults.

Students explore:

  • Visual arts and design
  • Music performance and appreciation
  • Drama and creative expression
  • Sports that build teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship

We take learning beyond the classroom through:

  • Outdoor camps
  • Environmental projects
  • Team-building challenges
  • Community engagement activities

These experiences help students develop resilience, leadership, and tenacity : qualities that stay with them for life.

Secondary students participate in Values-in-Action (VIA) programmes that nurture empathy, responsibility, and social awareness. Through service learning, leadership roles, and community projects, students learn to:
  • Take initiative
  • Lead with integrity
  • Work collaboratively
  • Contribute meaningfully to society
These experiences prepare them not only for university, but for life as responsible global citizens.

By the time students graduate from SGIS Secondary, they are:

  • Confident communicators
  • Independent thinkers
  • Skilled problem-solvers
  • Curious, joyful learners
  • Responsible global citizens

With internationally recognised qualifications and a strong character foundation, SGIS students are ready for top universities and a rapidly changing world.

Student Wellbeing

At SGIS, we believe that students learn best in an environment where they feel safe, valued, and emotionally supported. Alongside strong academic foundations, we place emphasis on well-being and social-emotional learning, recognising the importance of positive emotions, healthy relationships, and a sense of meaning and purpose in every child’s growth. Students are encouraged to set attainable personal goals, develop resilience and empathy, and care for their physical and emotional well-being. Through a nurturing and values-driven environment, we aim to help every student grow into a confident, balanced, and compassionate individual.
