FAQs
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Where will the school be located?
SGIS will be located on Srinakarin Road, just before Soi 24, Bangkok. The campus sits on 8.5 rai of land and is designed to accommodate up to 1,100 students upon completion.
When will the school open?
SGIS is scheduled to open in August 2027 for the 2027/2028 academic year. Construction is on track to be completed by May 2027, providing a two to three month preparation period before the first day of school.
What if construction is delayed?
SGIS maintains a transparent construction timeline and shares quarterly progress updates with all enrolled families. In the event that any facility is not fully ready by opening, the affected area will be fully sealed and students will not be permitted to learn in or near any active construction zone. The school’s commitment to a safe and fully prepared environment on Day 1 is not negotiable.
What will the school fees be?
Fees will be officially announced in July 2026. Tuition fees are structured to offer competitive value within the international school landscape in Bangkok, ranging from approximately THB 300,000 per year at the Early Years level to approximately THB 500,000 per year at the pre-tertiary level. Fees are subject to an annual adjustment of approximately 3 to 5 percent. These figures cover tuition only. What does "Authentic Singapore Education" mean at SGIS?
What curriculum does SGIS follow?
SGIS adopts Singapore’s national education framework across all levels, structured as follows:
- Early Years (Ages 2-5): UK Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) principles combined with Singapore’s Preschool curriculum framework, delivered through structured play and purposeful learning activities
- Primary School (Ages 6-12): Singapore national curriculum, with strong foundations in English, Mathematics, and Science, balanced with Humanities, the Arts, Character and Values Education, Physical Education, and Digital and AI Literacy
- Secondary School (Ages 13-18): Singapore-Cambridge IGCSE and International A-Levels, providing internationally recognised qualifications and clear pathways to universities worldwide
How does SGIS approach holistic development alongside academics?
Will students sit for the International Primary School Leaving Examination (iPSLE)?
SGIS plans to be an authorised examination centre for the iPSLE, administered by the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board (SEAB). Participation will be optional for students. The iPSLE provides an internationally recognised benchmark aligned with Singapore’s primary education standards, and can support pathways into secondary education within Singapore and other international systems. It offers families a valuable point of reference for assessing their child’s academic progress against Singapore’s national benchmarks.
How will technology and Artificial Intelligence be integrated into learning?
At SGIS, students are guided to engage with technology and artificial intelligence as tools for learning, not as substitutes for it. The approach is supervised, structured, and regularly reviewed by our Academic Advisory Board to ensure it remains current and age-appropriate. The campus will include dedicated ICT and Robotics rooms as well as a Maker Space, where students can develop practical digital competencies in a structured environment.
What will the composition of the teaching faculty be?
- Core Academic Subjects (Mathematics, Science, Mandarin): Led by Singapore-trained educators, ensuring rigour and fidelity to the Singapore pedagogical approach
- English Language and Humanities: Taught by qualified native English speakers, providing both language immersion and a global academic perspective
- Specialist Subjects (Physical Education, Arts, Music, ICT): Delivered by qualified international educators with relevant subject expertise
- Thai Language and Culture: Taught by qualified Thai educators, ensuring students meet national language requirements and remain grounded in Thai culture and identity
How does SGIS select and vet its teachers?
Teacher selection at SGIS follows a rigorous, multi-stage process grounded in Singapore’s V3SK framework, developed by the National Institute of Education Singapore, which evaluates candidates across three dimensions: Values, Skills, and Knowledge.
- Values: A genuine commitment to the learner and to the teaching profession
- Skills: Proficiency in 21st-century teaching competencies, including inquiry-based instruction, adaptive thinking, and digital literacy
- Knowledge: A strong understanding of learner development and curriculum design
All shortlisted candidates are required to conduct a teaching demonstration, which is assessed against Singapore Teaching Practice (STP) standards – a structured framework covering positive classroom culture, lesson design, and effective student feedback. Candidates must also pass comprehensive international background checks as part of SGIS’s student safeguarding commitments.
Upon appointment, all teachers, regardless of prior experience, complete PAI’s enhanced certification programme, which aligns their classroom practice with authentic MOE Singapore standards. Teachers are further required to undertake a minimum of 100 hours of professional development annually, mirroring the continuing education expectations of Singapore’s national school system.
How will teaching standards be maintained over time?
Teaching quality at SGIS is subject to ongoing oversight by the Academic Advisory Board assembled by PAI. This board comprises veteran Singapore educators with extensive experience in both Singapore national schools and international school leadership. Their role includes curriculum review, pedagogical audits, and the continuous alignment of SGIS’s teaching practice with Singapore’s latest educational developments, which are formally reviewed and updated every three to five years.
Who are the founders of SGIS?
Will the school's principal and senior leadership be Singaporean?
Yes. The founding Principal and Vice Principal, as well as some key academic leadership positions, will be filled by experienced Singapore educators. They will be supported by a broader leadership team with backgrounds in Singapore and international school environments. The founding Principal’s appointment will be announced in due course. Our focus in all leadership hiring is on expertise, experience, and alignment with Singapore’s educational values - nationality alone is not the sole criterion.
Which year levels will SGIS open with?
SGIS will open in August 2027 with year levels from Nursery 1 through to Year 8, covering ages 2 to 14. Additional year levels will be introduced progressively in subsequent academic years, with the long-term plan to operate as a full Nursery 1 to Year 12 school.
What does the admissions process involve?
The admissions process for most year levels includes an application review, placement assessments in English and Mathematics, and an interview where appropriate. Placement assessments are designed to ensure that each student is enrolled at the year level best suited to their current stage of learning. Families are also required to submit relevant medical records where the school needs to provide specific support or care. There are no placement assessments for preschool applicants.
If we relocate to Singapore, can my child transition into a Singapore national school?
Will there be co-curricular activities (CCAs)?
Yes. Co-curricular activities are an integral part of the SGIS programme and students are encouraged to participate in at least one CCA. Activities will span sports, performing arts, clubs and societies, leadership development, and community service. Uniformed group programmes will also be offered subject to demand. Through partnerships with regional and international organisations, students will have opportunities to participate in competitions and exchanges beyond the school campus.
Will SGIS accept students with diverse learning needs?
SGIS is committed to being an inclusive school within its operational capacity. Learning support programmes will be available for students with mild learning differences, and individual support structures will be developed in consultation with families where appropriate. Further details on specialist support will be made available ahead of the school’s opening.
How does SGIS handle bullying?
SGIS approaches student conduct through prevention first. Character and Values Education (CVE) embeds lessons on empathy, respect, digital citizenship, and conflict resolution from the earliest year levels. Where incidents of bullying occur, the school follows a structured disciplinary process that addresses the behaviour directly, provides appropriate support to the affected student, and ensures that root causes are identified and managed to prevent recurrence.
What languages will students learn at SGIS?
SGIS is a trilingual school. English is the primary medium of instruction and the language through which students are assessed. Students will also study Thai Language, Culture, and History in accordance with Thailand’s Ministry of Education requirements. Mandarin (Simplified Chinese) is offered as a structured second language, with five to seven hours of instruction per week focused on functional fluency and literacy.
Will my child be sufficiently prepared in Thai for local university entry?
Yes. The Thai Language programme at SGIS is designed to meet academic literacy standards for Thai students. Students will develop the reading, writing, and communication skills required to satisfy Thai university entrance requirements, ensuring that both international and domestic higher education pathways remain open to them.

What is the school's policy on air quality and PM 2.5?
Student health and safety is a core design principle of the SGIS campus. The school is equipped with HEPA filtration systems across all indoor spaces, maintaining consistently clean air quality regardless of outdoor conditions. A real-time air quality monitoring protocol is in place: when outdoor AQI levels reach Orange or Red classification, all physical activities are relocated to fully air-filtered indoor facilities. Air quality data will be made accessible to parents through the school’s digital communication platform.
What are the school's security arrangements?
The SGIS campus operates a comprehensive security framework. High-definition CCTV is in operation 24 hours a day across all common areas, corridors, entry and exit points, and classrooms. A digital access system controls all entry to the campus, and no unverified visitor is permitted beyond the reception area without an authorised escort. All non-teaching staff, including drivers, security personnel, and support staff, are required to pass criminal background checks and complete training in SGIS’s Student Safeguarding Code of Conduct. Service providers engaged by the school are subject to audit against safeguarding standards.
What is the school's approach to meals and food allergies?
The school canteen will offer a healthy, rotating menu of Thai and international dishes, prepared to low-sugar, low-sodium, and MSG-free standards. Students with documented food allergies are assigned a dedicated dietary profile within the school’s catering management system. Kitchen staff are trained in cross-contamination prevention protocols and in the appropriate emergency response procedures for severe allergic reactions.
Will there be a school bus service?
Yes. SGIS will establish a partnership with a vetted school bus service provider to offer door-to-door transportation for families who require it. School bus fees are an optional addition to the standard fee schedule. Further details will be communicated ahead of the school’s opening.
